We need more foster parents in Hastings

Up and down the country, over 80,000 children are living in the care system. Many of those children are still waiting to find loving foster homes with families just like yours. If you could welcome a child into your home, we would love to hear from you and talk to you about what it takes to become a foster parent.

Who can foster?

At Orange Grove, delivering quality care to children is our top priority. As one of our foster parents, it will be your job to fulfil the role of a parent for a child in need, providing them with the same love, attention and care that you would provide your own children. You’ll need to have some great personal qualities, such as compassion, empathy and resilience. Anyone can foster, regardless of their relationship status, sexuality, gender, race, or religion.

Our foster parents come from a wide range of professional backgrounds, too— whether you have experience in a caring role such as being a teacher or a carer, whether you’re a stay-at-home parent or you work in a business environment and haven’t had experience with children before, there’s room for everyone in fostering. With the right support, you can even foster while working.

Hastings fostering allowance

As an Orange Grove foster parent, you'll receive a competitive fostering allowance to reward you for all your hard work and commitment to the young person in your care.

You'll also receive:

  • Payments to support you in celebrating religious festivals and birthdays for the children in your care
  • Free family days out with your local team
  • Financial rewards through our exclusive refer-a-friend scheme
  • Free membership to the FosterTalk platform
  • Discounts to retailers and family days out through our rewards platform

Training and support

Your personal qualities mean more to us than experience. So if you're kind, compassionate and nurturing, our training will ensure you feel ready and confident to welcome your first foster child home.

Alongside our introductory course, which you’ll complete during your assessment, we offer a wide range of training opportunities throughout your fostering journey. We know life is busy, so you can choose from various learning options: in-person at your local training centre, online group sessions (available during the day and evening), or convenient e-learning courses.

Whether online or in-person, our training allows you to meet other foster parents and make new friends who can be a pillar of support to you and your family as you embark on your journey.
