support for foster parents

Reliable support for your whole family

Helping you and your family step into fostering with confidence

Fostering is a career like no other. It’s non-stop, round-the-clock, sometimes challenging but also incredibly joyful and rewarding. With Orange Grove, we’ll be on this journey together—celebrating the good times and supporting you through the tough ones.

You’ll have an experienced team around you and your family, enabling you to make a significant difference in the lives of the children in your care. This incredible support starts from the moment you get in touch, continues through your fostering assessment, and extends into your fostering career with us.

Supported by a local professional team

When you join our fostering family, you’ll have an entire team around you to provide you and your family with all the support you need. This includes:

Dedicated social worker

You’ll receive close and non-judgmental support from a supervising social worker (SSW), who works with only a handful of families, ensuring you receive the care and attention you deserve. In addition to regular supervision and informal check-ins, they’re always just a phone call away whenever you need them.

Family support worker

Your family support worker (FSW) will provide additional practical support to your family, including any children in your home. For example, they might arrange an activity day to help your children meet others who foster, or support a child in your care with a particular issue. Whatever your family needs, we’ll make it happen.

Education expert

You’ll have access to an in-house education expert, who can provide extra guidance to help you in supporting the child in your care to get the best out of their education.

Therapist

Fostering can be a challenging role, and there may be times when you need to offload too. That's why with Orange Grove, you'll have access to a therapist whenever you need one.

24/7 helpline

You can speak to a qualified social worker any time of the day or night, so you’ll never be left alone to deal with a situation.

Regular support groups

We’ll help you connect with other local foster parents for guidance, understanding, and encouragement.

Two weeks of paid respite

You may not need it, but it’s good to know it’s there if you do. During this time, we’ll arrange for the young person in your care to stay with their dedicated respite foster family.

Fostering with a family

Fostering with children or even grandchildren can be an enriching experience. But it's important to acknowledge that things may change for your family when you become a foster parent.

We recognise the important role that children of foster parents play, and offer a range of dedicated services, including additional support from a family support worker, to ensure they feel happy, supported, and valued throughout their fostering journey.

Support For Foster Carers (1)

A personal approach to fostering

By building a close and personal relationship with you and your family, we can match you with the right child, provide tailored support to meet your needs and ensure you feel comfortable reaching out for extra help whenever needed.

Through regular supervision, informal catchups, support groups, training, and events, you’ll feel like part of our fostering family in no time.

Matched with an experienced foster parent

We understand how daunting it can be to welcome a child into your home, especially if you’re new to fostering. That’s why we’ll connect you with an experienced local foster parent as an extra cushion of support for you and your family.

We want you to have an enjoyable fostering experience and ensure you never feel alone by putting all the necessary support in place.

We care for your emotional wellbeing

Fostering is incredibly rewarding, but it can affect your well-being too. That’s why our team is therapeutically trained—to help you maintain your mental health, so you can continue providing the best possible care for children. Plus, you’ll have access to a local therapist whenever needed to help you offload.
